Damiana is a small shrub with fragrant leaves, native to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. It has been used since the time of the Maya as an aphrodisiac and a natural mood-lifter. It is traditionally drunk as a tea or liqueur to encourage relaxation and desire.

Damiana is rich in flavonoids such as apigenin and acacetin. Research shows its extract has pro-sexual effects that work partly through the nitric oxide pathway, which is essential for healthy blood flow. In a double-blind trial, a supplement containing damiana improved sexual desire and satisfaction in women. This makes it a natural partner for mood and intimacy.

Rhodiola rosea, also known as golden root or arctic root, grows in the cold, mountainous regions of Europe and Asia. For centuries it was used in Scandinavia and Russia to build resilience against harsh climates and hard physical work. Today it is valued for helping the body and mind adapt to stress and for fighting both mental and physical fatigue.

Rhodiola's key compounds, rosavins and salidroside, help balance stress hormones such as cortisol and support the brain chemicals linked to mood and focus. In placebo-controlled trials, a standardized extract reduced stress-related fatigue. In another trial, it improved the mental performance of doctors working night shifts. This makes it an ideal ingredient for staying sharp and steady under pressure.

Muira puama, often called "potency wood," is a small tree from the Brazilian Amazon. Its bark and roots are traditionally used as a nerve tonic and to boost libido. It has been one of Brazil's most trusted natural aphrodisiacs for generations.

Research shows muira puama blocks acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, a brain chemical that is vital for memory and focus. In studies, it improved memory recall in both young and aging subjects. In a clinical study, a formula combining muira puama with ginkgo improved libido and sexual satisfaction in women. It supports both mind and body.

Panax ginseng is a slow-growing root that has been valued in East Asian traditional medicine for over 2,000 years. It is known as an adaptogen, which means it helps the body cope with physical and mental stress. It has long been used to support energy, stamina and vitality, and it is one of the most researched herbs in the world.

Ginseng's active compounds, called ginsenosides, support energy metabolism and help regulate the body's response to stress. Systematic reviews of clinical trials suggest ginseng can reduce fatigue. A double-blind trial also found that Korean red ginseng improved erectile function in men. This makes it a well-established foundation for energy, stamina and vitality.

Guarana is a climbing plant native to the Amazon. Its seeds contain around twice as much caffeine as coffee beans. Indigenous Amazonian peoples have used it for centuries to sustain energy and endurance on long journeys. Today it is a popular natural energizer that gives a smoother, longer-lasting lift than coffee.

As well as caffeine, guarana contains theobromine, theophylline and tannins, which slow the release of caffeine and extend its effect. Double-blind studies show guarana improves attention, memory and mood, even at doses containing very little caffeine, so its other compounds appear to play a role too. Clinical trials have also found that it helps reduce fatigue.

Maca is a root vegetable related to the radish that grows over 4,000 metres up in the Peruvian Andes. Andean communities have eaten it as a staple food for thousands of years and used it to boost energy, stamina and fertility. Today it is best known as a natural way to support libido and overall vitality.

Maca contains unique compounds called macamides and glucosinolates. In a randomized trial, men taking maca reported more sexual desire, yet their testosterone levels did not change. This suggests maca works through other pathways rather than by altering hormones. Further clinical trials found improvements in sexual function in women, including postmenopausal women.

Liquorice root comes from Glycyrrhiza glabra, a plant native to southern Europe and western Asia. It is one of the oldest known herbal remedies and was used in Egyptian, Chinese and Ayurvedic traditions to soothe the stomach and throat. Its natural sweetness also rounds out the flavor of herbal blends.

Liquorice contains glycyrrhizin and flavonoids with soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. In randomized trials, a liquorice extract eased indigestion symptoms and helped manage H. pylori, a bacterium linked to stomach problems. Another trial found that a liquorice gargle reduced sore throat after surgery. This makes it a gentle, well-studied ingredient for digestive comfort.

Black pepper is the dried fruit of Piper nigrum, a flowering vine native to southern India. Known as the "king of spices," it was once so prized that it was traded like currency. Ayurvedic medicine has long added it to herbal remedies to boost their effects.

Black pepper's main active compound, piperine, slows the breakdown of nutrients in the gut and liver so the body can absorb more of them. In a landmark human study, piperine increased the absorption of curcumin by 2,000%. Other research showed that it also raised blood levels of CoQ10. This makes it a valuable partner that helps the body get the most from every other ingredient in the blend.
